Meet Marc Winski

Marc, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?

The physical and mental parts of speaking is something that a lot of people rarely even think about……For people who stutter? It can be a major part of how we are built. As an actor, I always thought I HAD to be fluent (smooth, non-stuttered speech) in order to have a career. I was talked down to, passed on by casting and directors, and was never allowed to be my TRUE self in my acting. A self that stuttered. I always felt that I had to conform to what the “norm” was in order to make it. So I hid. I hid this part of myself within my career....

TikToker brilliantly shuts down woman using ableist phrase: 'So hurtful to an entire community'

One man’s request for his followers to delete an ableist phrase from their vocabulary is rapidly gaining traction on TikTok.

Marc Winski, a New York City-based actor and disability advocate who bills himself as the “CEO of Stutter Awareness” on TikTok, brilliantly dismantled the phrase “Did I stutter?” which is frequently used to designate a speaker’s absolute certainty in what they’ve just said....

“Marc is, simply put, best in class. From start to finish during his keynote at the National Stuttering Association conference I was thoroughly engaged, wondering what element of surprise would come next. How often do you get to enjoy a conference “speaker” who crafts an entire personalized high-quality show? His passion for performance and care for his audience shines through immensely."
